What The Legacy of Steve Jobs Means to Me

6 October, 2011 - Blog

The day started out like many others. Going over my emails followed by my usual “Good Morning” tweet. But almost instantly, something seemed different. I noticed that people were tweeting about Mr. Jobs more than usual and when that happens online, it’s usually not a good sign.

Immediately I searched Steve Jobs on Google and that’s when it hit me:  Steve Jobs, the Apple co-founder and former CEO, has died at the age of 56 after a long battle with cancer.

It’s always tragic when someone passes away. But it’s not an every day occurrence that it’s someone who’s affected so many others across the globe on a such a positive level. His legacy is one that goes way beyond any physical product he dreamt up and delivered.

To me, Steve Jobs’ legacy is one of determination, in pursuit of  greatness. His contributions to technology and to our daily lives is unquestionable.

His passing is a tremendous loss, not only to the company he founded and built, but to an industry he defined and re-defined. The fact that some of you may be reading this right now on devices he contrived is remarkable. On a very personal level, the fact that without Steve Jobs, this entire app industry and the business we created around it probably wouldn’t exist, is extraordinary.

Along with everyone else who has marveled at and benefited from Steve’s amazing life, we are deeply saddened by this news. Our thoughts go out to Steve’s family.

RIP Steve Jobs 1955 – 2011

“Focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it’s worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.” ~ Steve Jobs

Well written Oren! This is indeed a huge loss to mankind, we knew it was coming, but the realization is so hard. As someone who eats, breathes, sleeps mobile apps, we owe so much to Steve Jobs. In a way, we are very fortunate souls that we can tell our grandchildren how it felt when Steve Jobs was alive. Silicon Valley today seems like it lost its father. Reply
